Spiritual Practice

A spiritual practice can be any daily activity which helps create a sense of the sacred...and to me it need not be religious in nature at all. Committing to taking a few minutes to reflect and create something every day can bring a sense of purpose and peace into an otherwise uncertain and chaotic life.

2012 went out among much turmoil and sadness, yet I am convinced that one small daily commitment to a reflective activity will help bring focus and clarity to my mind and help me construct a more peaceful and productive existence in the coming year.

Like the rings created when a stone is dropped in still water, it is my hope that that those who take a minute to read a post and reflect on some thought or memory or action in their own lives can begin a journey towards wholeness of spirit and mind.

If in wine one finds truth what does one find in simple delicious food? In a small cafe in Prague on a rainy day I ordered a bowl of goulash, some bread and a glass of local beer. I took the time to savor every bite and sip...to notice not just the taste but the texture, the flavor and the temperature...the feel of the chair, the color of the table linens...it was a meal not just nourishing my body, but my soul as well...I was making a memory that brings a smile to my face more than a year later. This photo reminds me to make memories everyday, not just on the momentous occasions in our lives. Making memories from the small moments can help us appreciate each day for the many miracles it presents! Peace~
